Do your feet hurt when you get out of bed in the morning, or after long periods of time sitting? Do your feet routinely feel sore, or even painful, at the end of the workday? If so, you are not alone: more people suffer from heel pain and tendonitis than any other type of foot ailment.
What can begin as a minor issue may evolve, if left untreated, into something far more serious; in fact, the sooner heel pain is diagnosed, the better a patient’s chances are of avoiding more complex heel pain treatments (such as injections or surgery).
At Diagnostic Foot Specialists (DFS), we offer multiple treatment options for those suffering from heel pain. One of the most effective, non-invasive heel pain treatments we offer our patients is called Radial Shockwave Therapy® (RSWT).
Doctors Robert Leisten, DPM, Amy Haase, DPM, and Arnold Farbstein, DPM administer RSWT treatments, meaning our heel pain patients get the combined benefit of this innovative treatment technology and their extensive podiatric/foot care experience.
Those suffering from heel pain are directed to sit comfortably in our exam room treatment chairs while the doctors use the RSWT device. Much like a traditional ultrasound machine, these small, wand-like instruments are pressed against the painful areas of the foot, with the doctor describing what is happening (and why) and answering your questions during the session.
A typical RSWT treatment session is short, lasting about five minutes from treatment start to end (please note that treatment plans and session frequencies depend on your specific condition and are discussed by the doctor and patient during a scheduled office visit).
“The most attractive aspect of shockwave treatment is that it is a non-invasive option for problems that are sometimes challenging to treat.”
